NORTH TONAWANDA HISTORY MUSEUM Administrative Office: 314 Oliver Street North Tonawanda, New York 14120 (716) 213-0554 e-mail: nthistorymuseum@aol.com website: www.nthistorymuseum.org For Immediate Release NT History Museum Members to Tour New Facility The North Tonawanda History Museum will hold its September Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Administrative Board Room of DeGraff Memorial Hospital, 445 Tremont Street. Following the meeting, interested members and others will visit the new administrative offices of the Museum at 314 Oliver Street. You do not need to be a member to attend. The Oliver Street facility is being prepared for occupancy as administrative offices and cataloguing and storage space for the Museum by the Museum's House & Grounds Committee, under the chairmanship of John Borcyki. A brand new museum, its mission is to assemble, preserve, protect, and exhibit collections pertaining to the history of North Tonawanda, its people and community life, focusing especially on the City's rich immigrant heritage and role as an important shipping and manufacturing center strategically located on the historic Erie Canal and Niagara River in the 19th and 20th centuries. A research and educational institution, they plan to be both an active participant in the historical and cultural tourism focus of North Tonawanda and a focal point for students of all ages to participate in historical studies and activities of the City. Call to determine hours open in the startup phase. Available by appointment also. Volunteers are needed for a wide variety of projects and activities, including researchers, office help, planning events, and fundraising activities.
