Looking south on Webster Street from the corner of Goudry Street, the original oblong-shaped marquee of the Rivera Theatre is visible on the left. The Rivera (original spelling of what is now known as the Riviera Theatre) had opened on December 30, 1926, just a short time before this photograph was taken. Goundry and Webster Streets were paved with bricks. |

Visible is the control house for the lift bridge in the center of the bridge at right (white structure), the Sweeney Building, later also known as the Telephone Building, at the end of the bridge on the North Tonawanda side, with the Van Raalte silk mill where the Gateway Center now stands.
