Product Review(s):
Located at 89-91 Main Street in North Tonawanda at the corner of Goundry Street. Built in 1890, it was known as the Sheldon Hotel until 1915 when the name was changed to Hotel Lincoln. In 1938, the name was changed back to the Sheldon Hotel. The building was 4 stories high and contained 80 rooms. The hotel was built to accommodate lumber salesmen and lumber officials who visited the area. It was destroyed by fire on November 12, 1940.

Unloading lumber in the Twin Cities of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda, the largest lumber market in the world in the late 1800's. North Tonawanda's location at the junction of the mighty Niagara River with the Erie Canal, completed in 1825, made it known around the world as the "Lumber Capital of the World."

Product Review(s):
New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Station - circa 1912 - 121 Main Street, north of Goundry. Note the four wheel and two wheel baggage carts. The building was razed in June 1961. The 14-ft. station sign "North Tonawanda" from the north end of the building was preserved and is now a part of the railroad memorabilia of the Historical Society of the Tonawandas.
