A novel set in 1926 North Tonawanda. Washington, D.C. artist Vincent Vermay's world is unraveling. He can no longer paint. He no longer understands his wife, Kate. Kate then inherits an old Victorian home in North Tonawanda from her grandmother. Vincent falls in love with the house and moves in while Kate remains in Washington. The marriage is further strained. On the third floor of the home, Vincent discovers a magical violin that takes him back in time to 1926 where he meets twenty-year-old Katherine Malloy, who has given up her career as a concert violinist to marry Jethro Malloy, an abusive man. Katherine's beauty gets Vincent painting again. He returns to 1926 several times to paint her potrait. He meets Norman Lassiter who loves Katherine so much that he quits acting and turns businessman, partnering with others to build a grand theatre in North Tonawanda. As Vincent grows closer to Katherine, he realizes what motivates his own wife. He also realizes that Katherine's life would be better with Norman. Vincent can make this happen on December 30, 1926, opening night of Norman's new Rivera Theatre. He can change Katherine's life for the better. But will he dare? Diane Meholick is also the author of "A Switch in Time." She grew up in North Tonawanda and is a graduate of Medaille College of Buffalo. She currently resides in Niagara Falls. |

A book dedicated to Elmer L. Ernst, who was the first employee of the Bison Shipyard. He played a key role in turning the 7-acre site on Tonawanda Island on which the shipyard was located into the most productive LCT shipyard in the country during World War II. The book tells the story of a North Tonawanda company which delivered the LCT's so badly needed by our armed forces for their amphibious operations during the War. CURRENTLY ALL SOLD OUT. |
