Winter Walk - December 3, 2004

After a raffle that extended from our "Antiques & Things: Auction & Antique Appraisal and Concert" on May 22, 2004, through Winter Walk 2004 on December 4, 2004, a winner was selected at the end of the day by Museum volunteers manning our Open House at 314 Oliver Street. The photo shows Joan Horn of Partners in Art displaying the oil painting that was raffled off. An original 20" x 16" oil painting by Glenna Sternin, framing by Joan Horn, "Autumn Scene," is based on the Hudson River School of Painting with luminescent paints. Mrs. Nancy Rogge, a North Tonawanda resident, was presented with the painting at our December 14, 2004, Polish Christmas Night in the DeGraff Community Center.

Donna Zellner Neal, Director, welcomes visitors to the Winter Walk 2004 Open House in the Museum's start up offices at 314 Oliver Street on December 4, 2004. The building was the home of Adams & Son Bakery when first built in 1906. The name "Adams" is still visible on the stone at the top of the building. David Zobrist, owner of Awnings Plus, has kindly made the facilities available for our Museum offices while we pursue our future permanent home.

Winter Walk 2004 Open House crew in the Museum offices at the beginning of the day. We had a crew downtown on Webster Street all day selling items to raise funds and a crew in the offices throughout the day--21 volunteers for the day. In the front meeting room at 314 Oliver Street, left to right: Joann Fearn, RSVP Office Assistant; Donna Zellner Neal, Director; Betty Brandon, Historic Treasures Tour Committee Chair and Seaway Trail Walks Co-Chair; Jane Garis, Archival Records Coordinator & RSVP Office Assistant; and student member Carley Buddenhagen. Note the freshly painted offices, thanks to John Borycki, Don Chretien, and Marvin Fritz.

Museum Director Donna Zellner Neal, and Museum volunteers Betty Brandon, Jane Garis, and (seated with back to camera) Carley Buddenhagen, chat during a lull in visitors.
