The Rotary Club of the Tonawandas celebrates its 88th anniversary, established in 1917. Rotary International is 100 years old this year as well.
The Tonawanda News was established as the Daily News on April 1, 1880, by Dr. George Hobbie. Charles Hewitt, son of Ruby Hewitt, long-time Tonawanda News owner, represented the paper at the party. Mr. Hewitt donated three issues of the 1880's newspaper to the North Tonawanda History Museum.
The North Tonawanda History Museum celebrated its first anniversary as a chartered museum. The Board of Regents of the State University of New York granted the Provisional Charter on April 20, 2004.
First Baptist Church began at 190 Vandervoort Street, moving into their new building on Meadow Drive 40 years ago.
