Programs Under Development Museum Receives Grant for Educational Programming from York Children’s Foundation Grant Sponsored by Fretthold Funeral Home The North Tonawanda History Museum has been awarded a $1,000 grant for its educational programming for children from the York Children’s Foundation of Houston, Texas. The grant request was sponsored by the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver Street, facilitated by James P. Fretthold; and the local York Distributor, Yorktowne Caskets, Inc. The grant is one of 49 grants issued in the first quarter of 2005 by the Foundation. Additional local grants were made to the Twin Cities Community Outreach Clothes Closet and the Kiwanis Club of the Tonawandas Foundation, both also sponsored by Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., and Yorktown Caskets, Inc. The York Children’s Foundation was established in 1992 to disburse funds to non-profit organizations that work for the benefit of children. The North Tonawanda History Museum directs its educational programming toward students of all ages. The grant will be u sed to purchase equipment and supplies for the development of the Museum’s programming in local history for elementary school students. A WebQuest program will be created, focusing on the history of North Tonawanda , utilizing the Museum’s website at www.nthistorymuseum.org. |
