Built in 1892 at the southeast corner of Main Street at Tremont Street, the YMCA Building was a multi-purpose structure, housing the YMCA, the town and county hall, the police station. In 1900, City Board authorized moving City Hall from Thompson Street to this building. There were apartments on the top floor. On the Canal side of Sweeney Street, it had a small wooden waiting room where passengers waited to board trolley cars for Niagara Falls or Buffalo. Across the street from this building was a two-story wooden fire hall. YMCA activities ceased due to lack of funding in the early 1930's and a room in the building was used as an adult Sunday School for First Methodist Church. The Y Building was torn down around 1938.
