The Funeral Home was started in 1894, by Martin J. Wattengel, then to William Martin, Wattengel, Sr., then William Martin Wattengel, Jr, and then to Ward Wattengel who died in 1999. Joseph Mantione purchased the funeral home in 2001, having started there in 1994.

The Funeral Home's original location was in the garage of what is now Pirson's automotive on Main Street at Sweeney Street across from the Elks Club. It was called Wattengel's Livery, and the Funeral Home moved here to 307 Oliver Street later.
