Tonawanda Power Company

Northeast Corner of Sweeney & Webster Streets

From 1926, includes a colored light bulb display and greenery around the exterior of the Tonawanda Power Company windows.  The Power Company was the predecessor of Niagara Mohawk, and was located in this building until the new Power Building was constructed at 4-6 Webster Street in 1929 after the Scanlon House hotel burned.  Housed in this Sweeney Building when the photo was taken were Crown Holler Insurance Agency, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Sweeney Industrial Properties, Mutual Benefit Life Insurance, Home Cooperative Savings & Loan Association, Rand Realty Company, State National Bank, J. W. Scribner Lumber Company, and the Bassette and Praker Law Offices.
