The Tonawanda News – Founded April 1, 1880
Tonawanda News began April 1, 1880, as the Daily News. Papers were sold for one penny each. Later became the Evening News; then the Tonawanda News and was bought by Charles E. Hewitt. Tonawanda News moved from the 83 Webster Street location (now Partners in Art Studio) to its present location at 435 River Road in 1960. They began publishing the Niagara Gazette in their facilities in North Tonawanda on December 31, 1999.
