Meyers Coal Company
Meyers Coal Company, on the west side of Vandervoort Steet between Tremont and Goundry Streets, supplied many families with heating and cooking fuel. This photo is from 1920. Coal, wood, and charcoal were delivered by horse and wagon or in a new truck with hard rubber tires. All wagons and trucks advertised Lehigh Valley Anthracite Coal and the Meyers Coal Company's telephone number. The cupola from the Post Office building (behind this building) is slightly visible over the roof. To the right of the small garage can be seen a part of the Herschell-Spillman plant. |
