McLean Chevrolet Corporation

A group of residents parking their automobile in front of Thompson's Ice Cream which was across the street from 10 Goundry Street near the Main and Webster intersection. George Thompson owned the ice cream business. His father, Oren Thompson, was a carpenter who built many of the homes on Bryant Street. Circa 1915.

The Sheldon Hotel at 89-91 Main Street, south east corner of Goundry Street, was built in 1890. In 1915, the name was changed to Hotel Lincoln. In 1938, the name was changed back to the Sheldon Hotel. The building was four stories high and had 80 rooms. It was built to accomodate lumber salesmen and lumber officials who visited the area to do business. It was destroyed by fire on November 12, 1940. Circa 1935.

Twin City Auto Co. was located on the west side of Main Street between Tremont and Goundry Streets when this photo was taken in 1931. The road was still paved with brick. Roy Arenz, manager of the Twin City Auto Co. presents the title for the Buick to one of the buyers, a performing group of "little people." The cara had been specially tailored for the buyers, raising the seats, extending the pedals, and making several other adjustments so that the performers could drive from city to city in both comfort and style. Mr. Arenz was later the owner of the Cadillac and Pontiac dealerships in the Tonawandas.

New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Station. Circa 1912. Located at 121 Main Street, north of Goundry Street. Visible are four-wheel and two-wheel baggage carts. The building was torn down in June 1961.
