345 Goundry Street
345 Goundry Street, at the southwest corner of Falconer Street, was built in 1906. The original owner, John Mahar, made his money in coal. The house was designed by North Tonawanda architects. It still has two coal bins in the basement and the orginal coal-burning fireplaces. John Mahar's son, Raymond Mahar, was in the insurance business in Tonawanda. After the Mahars, the three owners who followed were all doctors who used the basement for their offices and examining rooms. The first doctor was Dr. Robert P. Reagan, whose first wife was Theodora Fassett. The most recent doctor to practice there was Dr. Carlson. The 5th owner restored and remodeled the house but never moved in or occupied it. He sold the house in 2005. The railing on the porch was rescued from Felton Grammar School by Dr. Carlson when the school was demolished.
