Pictured are Paul and William Achilles with their grandfather, John Langdon, who is believed to have built the house circa 1865, according to Langdon's granddaughter, Isabelle MacMillan. Note the wooden sidewalk. John Langdon's father was Moses Langdon, who had lived in the village of Tonawanda from 1860 until his death in January 1899. John E. Langdon died at the age of 80 in July 1918. Born in Newfane, New York, he had lived in North Tonawanda the greater part of his life. He was survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Achilles and Mrs. A. A. Kinzly, both of North Tonawanda, and Mrs. H. E. Bromley of Buffalo. The funeral ws held in this home. Mt. Langdon was a mechanic. His daughter Mary's husband, WIlliam Achilles, was a druggist. |
